Presented by Seth Dippold (Senior Software Engineer) – NLign Analytics & Daryl Kwakye- Ackah ( Sr. Principal Manufacturing Systems Engineer- Northrop Grumman
Last week, engineers from NLign Analytics & Northrop Grumman had the excellent opportunity to present their hard work to the community at the Global Product Data Interoperability Summit (GPDIS).
This summit ” functions as a communications hub for industry principals to foster knowledge through the exchange of ideas solutions and methods…Unlike any other conference GPDIS represents the core data representation and delivery systems that drive our industries.”
Our presentation covered the journey of the Digital Thread for defects and discrepancies beginning in the manufacturing phase. The path started with the initial exploration of a collaborative study between the USAF, Northrop Grumman and NLign Analytics to asses the benefits of incorporating the Digital Thread into the MRB (Material Review Board) process.
It then moved on to the advancements and implementations that took place beyond the initial study to the vision for how this Digital Thread will be used to optimize beyond manufacturing and into sustainment, redesign and other additional advantages that extend from manufacturers to suppliers and end users
