Implementing Digital Thread for Legacy Defense Systems

Presented By Uriah Liggett ( Principal Software Engineer- NLign Analytics) and Martin Raming (ASIP Research Engineer- SWRI)

NLign Analytic had the excellent opportunity to speak at the Global Product Data Interoperability Summit (GPDIS)  again this year.

“This Summit is a communications hub for industry principals to foster knowledge by exchanging ideas, solutions, and methods. It is a place to build consensus on the data, tool, and process standards based on the experience of liked minded professionals. ”

Our presentation was focused on how the Digital Thread has been promoted to reduce manufacturing and sustainment costs, improve product quality, and feed valuable information into the design for next-generation development, among many other benefits. However, there are relatively few examples of a complete end-to-end digital thread solution that the industry can learn from. Our presentation covers the path taken by the United States Air Force’s A-10 SPO to implement a complete digital thread solution for digital engineering. This is the first year they have added a specific track for the Digital Thread/ Digital Twin, and we were honored to be a part of it!
